Shoulder Sleeve Insignia


Description/Blazon
A shield shape device 3 inches (7.32 cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72 cm) in width overall, divided per pairle white, scarlet and blue, overall a silver gray sword palewise fimbriated white and surmounting a scarlet arrowhead in chief, all below five blue stars chevronwise; in base on either side of the sword blade three white stars pilewise; all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) golden yellow border.

Symbolism
The white, scarlet, and blue background represents the parent command, Army Materiel Command. The sword symbolizes protecting the Homeland and the constant state of readiness. The scarlet arrowhead reflects the letter "A" and indicates The Americas (North and South America). The five stars in chief are for the 5th Army and the six in base are for the 6th Army. The total of eleven commemorates September 11th (9-11) as the unit was formed in response to the Global War on Terrorism.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved effective 16 June 2007.  It was cancelled by HQDA, G-1 directive on 21 February 2010. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-925)

Description/Blazon
On a silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of an inverted shield divided per chevron blue and silver bearing a red arrow point fimbriated silver, overall within an arc of eleven stars, is a bald eagle's head erased in Proper colors; superimposed across the base of the shield are two silver swords points up saltirewise. Across the bottom of the shield is a red scroll inscribed with "AMERICAS" in silver letters. On either side of the shield is a blue scroll, the left inscribed "VIGILANT" and on the right "RESPONSE" in silver letters.

Symbolism
Red, white (silver) and blue reflect the Army Materiel Command colors. The red arrow point alludes to the letter "A" and stands for The Americas (North and South America). The total of eleven stars commemorates September 11th (9-11) as the unit was formed in response to the Global War on Terrorism. The numerical total of the designations of the 5th and 6th Armies also are represented by the eleven stars. Our national eagle, symbol of vigilance and strength, is used by Acquisition, which is the main function of the Brigade. The swords represent readiness, teamwork, and the two Armies of THE AMERICAS, 5th and 6th.
